Bangalore March 7 Teleradiology Solutions has formed a 50:50 joint venture with Singapore's National Health Group to promote and market its remote radiology interpretation services in that country and beyond.

Telerad (Singapore), the new marketing entity, will look for new market opportunities to bring radiology `reads' or interpretations back to Bangalore, according to Dr Sunita Maheswari, Director.

Teleradiology Solutions, a pioneering venture of its CEO, Dr Arjun Kalyanpur, has been operating from Bangalore since 2002. NHG currently outsources nearly 45 per cent of its X-ray readings to Teleradiology. The latter recently got the Singapore accreditation to read CT and MRI scans also. Teleradiology also caters to US and Indian hospitals for reading of non-invasive imaging studies such as CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine studies and digitised X-rays.

The 120-strong company plans to add 100 more doctors and radiologists in the next six months; in the past year, it has recruited 60 employees, Dr Maheswari said.

The NHG, among the largest healthcare groups in Singapore, is $1-billion strong with 11,000 employees across its nine polyclinics, four hospitals, a national centre and three speciality institutes. The agreement with NHG also opens up new possibilities of work from the UK and the US, she said.

Dr Kalyanpur said, "This partnership will leverage the expertise of both organisations to provide quality telemedicine to hospitals in Asia and across the globe. Further, it will establish the country as a leading international destination for telemedicine."

Dr Lim Suet Wun, CEO of NHG, described it as a significant milestone in the group's growth in Asia and around the world.
