Matrix Vice-Chairman pays Rs 26.4 cr as tax

Hyderabad March 8 Mr Nimmagadda Prasad, Vice-Chairman of Matrix Laboratories Ltd, has emerged as the highest taxpayer in the `individuals' category' in Andhra Pradesh with a payment of Rs 26.40 crore for the financial year 2007-08.

According to Mr D.V. Dharmik, Chief Commissioner of IT (Hyderabad-I), he has sent a post-dated cheque for encashment ahead of the March 15 deadline for payment of advance tax. With no signs of others reaching this figure, he is going to top the list for the year.

Incidentally, the HUF headed by Mr Prasad also ranked first in that category with a payment of Rs 2.05 crore.

Meanwhile, NMDC (National Mineral Development Corporation) continues to top the corporate segment with a payment of Rs 884 crore up to February 2007. It is expected to contribute Rs 1,200 crore by the end of the fiscal as against Rs 937 crore it paid last year.
