Plea to Railway Board

Our Bureau

Bangalore, March 8

The Staff Council of Rail Wheel Factory, Bangalore, has urged the Railway Board to reconsider the decision to transfer of employees to the unit being set up in Chapra, Bihar. The council, while demanding immediate withdrawal of the decision, has also asked the Board to elicit willingness among staff for relocating to the new project.

In a press statement, Mr C.S. Shivaramu, Joint Secretary of the Staff Council, has said the decision has caused fear and panic among the staff, who have built up the RWF to its present status of key rolling stock provider saving huge foreign exchange. He said to register their protest, the RWR staff members have decided to wear a black badge tomorrow. Mr Shivaramu said the Railway Board could depute the Chapra Wheel Units staff to Bangalore for training and deploying them instead of transferring RWF staff.
