Bank deposits on the rise

Chennai, March 9

Bank deposits grew by Rs 62,240 crore during the monthly period ended February 23, according to the weekly statistical supplement of the Reserve Bank of India. The deposits stood at Rs 24,67,048 crore as on that date. Deposits during the 11 months of the fiscal have grown by about Rs 3.57 lakh crore, growing at 17 per cent. Loans, however, grew faster at 21 per cent. The banks have disbursed about Rs 3.13 lakh crore. Total outstanding loans were at Rs 18,20,328 crore.
