Our Bureau

Hyderabad March 11 With a view to update doctors in the management of acute stroke (brain attack), Apollo Hospitals has roped in experts from Johns Hopkins International (US) and Indo-French Institute to organise a two-day international conference.

The conference, which began here on Saturday, deals with prevention, diagnosis, management and rehabilitation of stroke victims. Ms Sangita Reddy, Executive Director of Apollo Hospitals, said the hospital was the first in the world to get the Joint Commission International tag as a centre of excellence for management of acute stroke.

Time was very important in rehabilitating patients who suffered the stroke. The role of the community doctor to paramedical staff to the high-end treatment was very critical, she said. The procedures also included high-end treatment modalities.

Mr K. Suresh Reddy, Speaker of Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh, asked the doctors to discuss and find solutions to the healthcare needs of the poor.
