Allocation for tourism hailed

Our Bureau

Kochi March 11 The Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed the State Government's allocation of Rs 100 crore for the development of the tourism sector in the State in the Kerala Budget, by describing it as a positive step.

However, the Chamber is disappointed that the Budget did not contain any concrete proposals for infrastructure development and upgradation.

The increase in stamp duties too is also a negative step and will only fuel evasion of stamp duty, the Chamber said. The increase in taxes for tourist vehicles is bound to hit players in this sector, it added.
