Education States - West Bengal NSHM-De Bono Centre to be set up in Kolkata Our Bureau
Kolkata March 12 NSHM Knowledge Campus (formerly National School of Hotel Management) has tied up with De Bono School of Lateral Thinking and Cognitive Intelligence for setting up a NSHM-De Bono Centre of Innovation and Thinking Management at the NSHM Knowledge Kolkata campus. The initiative is aimed at "fostering innovation and creativity among students and professionals using the world-famous De Bono tools and techniques," it was stated at a news conference held here on Saturday. According to Mr Cecil Antony, Chief Mentor of NSHM Knowledge Campus, the tie-up with De Bono was the first step to a broader knowledge project of NSHM Knowledge Campus called Fine Cube. "Fine Cube seeks to address the problem of employability among students. In terms of employability, corporates look for other skillsets beyond academic excellence. That is why we have devised a lifestyle management curriculum. As part of our curriculum, we have introduced elements such as western dance, yoga, crisis management, knowledge tours, etc," Mr Antony said. NSHM was planning a series of strategic tie-ups to create a complete knowledge hub and add a new dimension in learning with higher employability needs and cross-cultural environment adaptability in multinational organisations, he added. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Peter Burns De Bono, world-renowned De Bono Lateral Thinking and Cognitive Intelligence Expert, said that, from the next academic session, NSHM Knowledge Campus would also provide training in Lateral Thinking and other De Bono techniques, such as Six Thinking Hats, Simplicity, Perception, Action, Values, etc.
