Kochi March 12 Hyundai Motor India organised the `Miles and Smiles Rally' here for its Verna and Getz customers to give them a chance to gauge the mileage of their car and to learn the techniques of fuel-efficient driving. The concept of the rally was to promote fuel-efficient driving habits among its customers. It not only contributes savings on the part of the owners but also saves precious oil resources. Mr P.P. Ramachandran, Regional Manager, State Bank of India, Ernakulam, flagged off the rally. The event was co-sponsored by SBI and the associate sponsors were Indian Oil, HDFC, Chubb and ICICI Lombard.
CASH PRIZES
Drivers in both petrol and diesel categories for the Verna and the petrol Getz who got the best mileage out of their cars were given cash prizes. The winners in each category got a cash prize of Rs 25,000. The first and second runners up in both categories also received cash prizes worth Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 each. This is the first mileage rally organised by Hyundai Motor India after its national Verna launch in September last year. Hyundai Motor India registered total sales of 299,513 vehicles in the calendar year 2006, an increase of 18.5 per cent over 2005. In the domestic market, it clocked a growth of 19.1 per cent compared to 2005. The overseas sales grew by 17.4 per cent with exports of 113,339 units, a press release issued here said.
