NEW NOTE: Mr Dinesh S. Patel, MD, S.F. Patel & Sons, addressing a BL Club meeting at Sri Sai Ram Engineering College. Sitting are (from left): Dr. K. Maran, MBA-HoD, Mr G. Sundaram, MD, S.P. Mitra & Co; and Dr S. Seetharaman, Principal.

Chennai March 13 "There is an entrepreneurial quality in every one of you sitting here. Everyone of you is a born entrepreneur. You have to build on your entrepreneurial skills to become a successful entrepreneur," Mr Dinesh S. Patel, Managing Director, S.F. Patel & Sons (I) Pvt Ltd, told the students of Sri Sai Ram Engineering College.

Addressing a two-day seminar on `Entrepreneurial Awareness and Development' organised by the college under the BL Lecture series, he said everybody keeps learning and "if you have the confidence and willingness then people will come and help you learn more and establish yourself as an entrepreneur." One has to make a beginning, however small it is, as making a beginning is most important in entrepreneurship.

More Opportunities

"Apply your mind and explore the ideas that are available across the world, then you will find many opportunities to become an entrepreneur," he said, adding if one wants to contribute to the nation, then he should be an entrepreneur.

"Even if you are an employee, you must act like an entrepreneur as that would stimulate higher performance. But if you feel like an employee, then your performance will be lower," he emphasised.

Advising students to build on their strengths, Mr G. Sundaram, Managing Director, S.P. Mitra & Co, said, "Once you come out of the college, try and identify the job/field that interests you. Only then you will be able to focus on it. You will be better off in productivity as you have an interest in that area and therefore, you can achieve success."
