Mangalore March 13 The Dharwad-based Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVGB) — a regional rural bank sponsored by Syndicate Bank — in association with United India Insurance Company Ltd has launched `Vikas Arogya' mediclaim scheme.

A press release said here that Mr M. Dhananjaya, Chairman of the bank, and Mr Hari Shrinivas, Chief Regional Manager, United India Insurance Company Ltd, launched the scheme.

The mediclaim scheme is primarily aimed at taking care of the hospital charges, in case of illness requiring hospitalisation. A single policy with one premium takes care of the policyholder and his family members consisting of spouse, two dependent children and dependent parents. It would be a floater policy covering six persons in a single policy.

With this, the member or all the dependents put together can avail themselves of the hospitalisation benefit during policy period up to the sum insured. Personal accident cover is extended to all the members covered under the policy. This policy is available only with branches of KVGB, it said.

Any person in the age group of five to 65 years is eligible for the policy. The sum insured can range from Rs 50,000 to a maximum of Rs 5 lakh. The customer is free to take treatment in any hospital or nursing home of his/her choice, it said.

The KVGB operates in nine districts with a network of 392 branches, covering 2,080 villages. The bank has a total business of more than Rs 4,200 crore and around 2.5 million customers.
