TN's bundled wind energy project gets validation

Tamil Nadu's first bundled wind energy project presented for carbon credit under the clean development mechanism (CDM) of the UN has been validated by the international accreditation agency TUV SUD.
With the validation accorded to the project design document of the bundled wind energy projects from the textile and textile allied industries affiliated to the Tamilnadu Spinning Mills Association (TASMA), Dindigul the project is likely to be registered soon, according to TASMA sources.
TASMA's project comprises 704 wind energy mills with a combined generation capacity of 473 MW, which will annually yield seven lakh certified emission reduction (CER) equivalent and the project would cumulatively yield seven million CER during the project activity period between 2003 and 2012.
According to Mr K. Venkatachalam, chief advisor, TASMA, his association has initiated a second CDM project covering another batch of wind mills with a combined generation capacity of 320 MW and the contract for fixing the validating agency would be signed soon.
