Our Bureau

New Delhi, March 16

Carlyle Group company, Ensus Ltd, has engaged a Punj Lloyd Group company, Simon Carves Ltd, to build the world's largest wheat-based bio-ethanol production facility in the UK.

"The plant will be the first world scale facility to be built in the UK and marks a major step in meeting the EU bio-fuel obligations," the company said in a statement.

The EU council of Ministers recently endorsed a 10 per cent binding minimum target to be achieved by all member states for the share of bio-fuels in overall EU transport fuels by 2020.
