SriLankan Airlines launches flights to Jeddah from Kerala

To commence operations from March 27 via Colombo

Kochi March 16 SriLankan Airlines has launched a twice-weekly flight to Jeddah to help regular Umrah movement to that place.

The flights, which would commence operations from March 27, would originate from Kerala to Jeddah via Colombo on every Tuesday and Friday. With the introduction of Jeddah flights, Sri Lankan Airlines now operates in all three international airports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr Samantha Nagahawatte, Manager, Kerala, said at a press meet.

With the introduction of this flight, the company now has a network in 51 destinations globally, he added.

"We are delighted with the introduction of flights to Jeddah, which is the principal gateway to Makkah, the holiest city of Islam," he said.

Currently, the airline is covering 10 destinations in India with 94 flights, which would be increased to 100 shortly.

"We are looking at India very positively and our products are well accepted in the market, he added.

New offers

Sri Lankan Airlines had recently unveiled a series of vacations for Indian travellers in March and April.

The offer includes a two nights and three days stay starting from Rs 9,999 and a longer three nights and 4 days stay for Rs 12,599 upwards.

These fares are all inclusive which include a return airfare on economy class, twin share accommodation, bed and breakfast, airport transfers and all government taxes, he added.

According to Mr Nagahawatte, the company has recently signed an MoU with the Kerala Government to promote tourism in the State.

There are also plans to introduce Visit Sri Lanka package from the State soon, he said.
