HC refuses injunction on HPL board meet

Our Legal Correspondent

Kolkata, March 19

Mr Justice Jayanta Kumar Biswas of the Calcutta High Court today refused to grant any injunction over holding of board meeting of Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd, scheduled to be held on March 20. The court also refused to pass any interim order over the agenda of Managing Director.

The Counsel of The Chatterjee Group (TCG) today in reply to the arguments made by the Counsel of West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) and West Bengal stated that there was no inadequacy in the activities of The Chatterjee Group. WBIDC argued that an application under Section 397 of Companies Act can only be made when there is mismanagement in the company, but the counsel of TCG argued that technical pleas cannot defeat a Section 397 petition. The hearing will continue.
