Panic in wheat

The editorial "Panic in wheat" (Business Line, March 20) noted that "the country may well end up with an additional food subsidy of Rs 8,500 crore, including the Rs 3,400 crore spent on the import of 5 million tonnes."

The subsidy actually will be Rs 5,000 crore; the Rs 3,500 crore represents the import bill. The error is regretted.
