Joint tender by Indian, AI for ground handling at Hyderabad

Our Bureau

New Delhi March 20 Indian and Air India have decided to jointly tender for the ground handling activity at the new Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, the Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Mr Praful Patel, told the Raja Sabha on Tuesday.

In response to a question raised in Parliament, the Minister said that the terms of the tender required the Indian operator or handling agent to join hands with an international ground handling agency. "All the international ground handling agencies shortlisted by the GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) were considered by Air India and Indian. Among them Singapore Air Terminal Services was selected as the joint venture partner with a 49 per cent shareholding, while the two airlines will hold the remaining stake," the Minister said.

GHIAL is yet to finalise the ground-handling contract for the airport, Mr Patel said.
