Omnitech centre in Bahrain

Ahmedabad, March 20

The Persian Gulf Sheikhdom of Bahrain will have its information technology related security and disaster management requirements from an Indian company. The Mumbai-based Omnitech InfoSolutions Ltd has formed OmniGulf Technologies WLL, a joint-venture with Bahrain-based Almutawa Group, with an initial investment of $2 million. The company will set up a 200-staffed managed Disaster Recovery Centre (DRC) in Bahrain, which would be subsequently expanded. It will start operations in April this year, company sources told Business Line here on Tuesday.

There are more than 235 banks and other financial institutions in Bahrain, and OmniGulf will target managing about five to fifty seats per company, which would also consider extending their DR services to other companies and verticals in the region. The initiative is in response to the growing IT and security requirements of financial firms in the Arab countries, to comply with Basel II and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) regulations.
