Rubber Lack of support keeps spot rubber prices flat Aravindan
Kottayam March 20 Physical rubber prices closed steady on Tuesday. RSS 4 was flat at Rs 88.50 a kg both at Kottayam and Kochi as it lacked the support from major manufacturers. Buyers were unwilling to enhance their quotes above certain levels, an observer said. The volumes were low.
Futures better
The rubber futures turned better on NMCE. The international markets might have influenced the domestic sentiments to a certain extent but we feel that the rally is a technical bounce back, sources said. The April contract improved to Rs 90.80 (89.95), May to Rs 94.75 (93.57), June to Rs 97.90 (96.79) and July to Rs 99.99 (98.78) a kg for RSS 4. The April delivery contract for the grade finished better at Rs 91.50 a kg against Rs 90.87 on MCX. RSS 3 (spot) firmed up to Rs 98.49 a kg from Rs 96.76 at Bangkok. The April futures for the grade improved to 261.5 Yen (Rs 97.60) from 258.5 Yen a kg at TOCOM. Spot rubber prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 88.50 (88.50); RSS-5: 87 (87); ungraded: 86.50 (86.50); ISNR 20: 86.50 (86.50) and latex 60 per cent: 63.15 (63.15).
