Our Bureau

Hyderabad March 20 Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd (AP Transco) has announced it has been chosen for another award for efficient performance by the Central Electricity Authority.

The award is to be handed over by the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, in New Delhi on March 21 and will be received by the Chairman and Managing Director of AP Transco, Ms Rachel Chatterjee.

NETWORK EXPANSION

The availability factor of the transmission system has gone up to 99.35 per cent in 2003-2004 and 99.87 per cent in 2005-2006 and this would not have been possible without investing about Rs 774 crore in expanding and strengthening the transmission network.

In a statement, the AP Transco CMD said key parameters that contribute to ensure that the transmission systems functioned at optimal level were based on stringent review and monitor process and by establishing circuit breakers.

Special patrolling and review of critical feeders have contributed significantly to its performance parameters and AP Transco is able to handle up to 9,000 mw of peak demand.
