Thiruvananthapuram, March 21

The Kerala Government is set to bring out a forest policy which will give top priority to measures for protecting forest wealth. The Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, said here on Wednesday while releasing a draft policy that it would be finalised after mobilising the opinions of people in various fields over a period of three months.

The policy will reflect the Government's commitment to solving the problems faced by tribal societies. It would contain provisions for protecting the land development rights of tribals and ensuring better health, education and living conditions for them, the chief minister said.
