Accenture to hire more consultants

New Delhi March 21 Keeping in line with its global plans to expand its management consulting business, Accenture has announced that it would be increasing the number of consultants in India to 2,000 by the end of August 2008 from the current 500.

Globally, Accenture would double its consultants from the current 13,000 over the next three years. It also plans to focus on newer areas such as risk management in consulting and analysis business.

"Expanding our management consulting capabilities in India would complement the capabilities we have in technology and outsourcing. This would not only benefit the domestic clients in the Indian market but also the clients in other markets," said Mr Mark Foster, Chief Executive, Accenture, Management Consulting and Integrated Markets.

He added that the company was expanding its operations across other markets as well.

Talent pool

To leverage the country's talent pool, Accenture would hire across different categories, including specialists who have a background in finance, accounts and law.

"Accenture's consulting business is driven by the aspirations of Indian companies that want to go global as well as many of the multinational companies that want to invest in India," said Mr Harsh Manglik, Chairman and Managing Director, Accenture India.

Acquisition

On the acquisition front, Mr Foster said that although the company had grown organically, it has set aside $200-300 million for acquisitions in niche areas and geographies.
