New Delhi March 21 Telecom major Bharti Airtel has entered into an agreement with the Bahrain-based Gateway Gulf to enhance its international connectivity in the Middle East region. As part of the deal Bharti will use Gateway Gulf `s data centre, Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) farm, grid computing and collocation services at Bahrain. Gateway Gulf is an Internet exchange and data transmission solutions company and offers teleport and co-location services to Africa and the Middle East. The commercial details of the agreement were not revealed. Bharti Airtel as part of its international long distance service has interconnects with 230 carriers around the world and direct routes with over 60 countries. Announcing the agreement, Mr Rajan Swaroop, Executive Director, Airtel Enterprises Services - Carrier said, "Through this agreement, Bharti Airtel will have extensive advantage of establishing its presence in West Asia." Mr Tariq Husain, Chairman, Gateway Gulf, said: "Bharti has created a significant position for itself in the global telecommunications sector.
