Outlook States - Andhra Pradesh Transco draws up investment plans Our Bureau
Hyderabad March 21 Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (APTransco) plans to spend Rs 4,498 crore towards improving the transmission system during the XI Plan period (2007-2008 to 2011-2012) In addition, the distribution companies in the State have proposed investment of Rs 5,848 crore during the XI Plan for expansion of distribution network. In a statement, the Chairman and Managing Director of APTransco, Ms Rachel Chatterjee, said that the company proposed to improve the existing system to support higher demands across its network in the State. Expressing happiness over APTransco being awarded Golden Shield by the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, in Delhi today, Ms Chatterjee said with increased investments and better management over the last three years, the quality of power provided at the last mile has improved significantly. The corporation is using thermo vision cameras to detect hot spots on the transmission lines and connecting links to various equipment in the sub-station and thereafter improving the performance of these lines. In another statement, APGenco has informed that its Managing Director, Mr Ajay Jain, received silver medal and recognition for good performance by some of the Genco units in the State. These achievements would not have been possible without the efforts of the employees of the two corporations, they said
