Power States - Andhra Pradesh Another `cool' year for AP power consumers Our Bureau
Farmers are eligible for free supply of power if they take to demand side management measures by opting for submersible pumps sets and frictionless foot valves.
Hyderabad March 22 For electricity consumers in Andhra Pradesh, across segments, 2007-08 will be yet another year without power tariff hikes. This will be the sixth successive year without tariff hike. The Secretary, Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC), Mr S. Suryaprakasa Rao, has said retail supply tariffs applicable for different categories of consumers beginning April 1, 2007 will not attract any higher rates this year except High Tension category V, railway Traction, whose tariff has, in fact, been reduced by 10 paise to Rs 4.10 per unit. Significantly, the existing load factor incentive scheme for high-tension category I (A) industrial general category will continue next fiscal. In addition, the restriction that only HT consumers under categories I and V are entitled to avail HT supply under category VI for the colonies of their employees has been deleted.
Domestic users
In the case of domestic users, for consumers up to 50 units, the tariff will be Rs 1.45 per unit, between 51-100 units (Rs 2.80), 101-200 (Rs 3.05), 201-300 (Rs 4.75) and above 300 units (Rs 5.50). And in the case of non-domestic consumers, for up to 50 units (Rs 3.95) and above 50 units (Rs 6.25). In the case of industrial consumers, it ranges depending upon horse power, from Rs 3.75 a unit and goes on to Rs 4.40 a unit with pisciculture and prawn culture (90 paise) and sugarcane crushing (50 paise). In the case of cottage industry, up to 10 horse power a month, Rs 1.80 a unit.
SOPS FOR FARMERS
For both dryland and wetland farmers, there is no levy for normal use. For high consumption, Rs 210 per horse power per year at 20 paise per unit will be charged. Corporate farmers will have to pay Re 1 a unit. However, farmers are eligible for free supply of power if they take to demand side management measures by opting for submersible pumps sets and frictionless foot valves.
