Mastek Ltd will build its Mainframe Centre of Excellence in Chennai to build competencies in mainframe technology, mainly for the insurance sector. The mainframe development team will collaborate with the Chennai delivery unit to ensure `on-time and high quality' delivery of client projects in mainframe technologies through auditing and competency building, according to a company press release.

The company is also in the process of developing its new campus at the Mahindra Industrial Park in the city, which will employ 5,000 professionals when fully operational. In the first phase, to be completed in 12 months, the company will recruit 1,100 professionals, says the release.
