K.T. Chacko is IIFT Director

Mr K.T. Chacko, former Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), has been appointed as Director of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, (IIFT), the country's premier B-school for International Business.

According to an IIFT release, Mr Chacko, besides strengthening the institute by liaising with government agencies, international organisations and the corporate sector, will also be involved in establishing collaborations with other institutions and universities in India and abroad and project IIFT has a pivotal institution for education, training and research in the focus areas of international business, trade policy and WTO issues. His term at IIFT will be for five years with effect from March 2007.

An IAS official of the 1973 Madhya Pradesh cadre, Mr Chacko holds a masters degree in economics from the University of Kerala, besides a masters in public administration from Harvard University, specialising in areas such as international trade and monetary policy.
