Bug spreading thru Skype

Our Bureau

Coimbatore, March 23

Cyber security alerts have become a weekly phenomenon, particularly this month. The Websense Security Labs has, this week, discovered a new set of malicious code — Warezov — spreading through the Skype network. According to Websense, `the code does not self propagate, but when it runs, a URL is being sent to all users within the user's contacts list'.

The attack is said to be similar to the version mentioned on the Fsecure blog, but with new URL information. The Trojan, once installed in the system, attempts to connect to a Yahoo mail server to send an SMTP message. The downloaded files are other versions of the Warezov/Stration malicious code.
