Infotech setting up development centre in Vizag

Five acres has been allotted to the company at Rushikonda IT park

Visakhapatnam March 25 Infotech Enterprises Ltd is setting up a development centre in the IT park at Rushikonda near here and it will become operational in roughly a year's time, according to Mr B.V.R. Mohan Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director.

He told reporters here on Saturday that five acres of land has been allotted to the company at the Rushikonda IT park and Infotech has applied for approval by the Visakhapatnam Development Authority (VUDA).

"Once we get the approval, we will start work on the project. Initially, we will take 250 engineers or so. We will concentrate mainly on marine engineering work in the centre," Mr Reddy said.

Substantial expertise

He said the investment on setting up the centre may be in the range of Rs 30-35 crore. Earlier, in February, the company had set up a centre at Kakinada Software Technology Park of India and "the response at Kakinada has been very encouraging".

Over the past 15 years, he said, Infotech has achieved substantial domain expertise in engineering design services and different areas such as aerospace technology, locomotives, geospatial solutions for telecom sector and utilities.

He said the company's turnover amounted to Rs 540 crore and it was is growing annually at the rate of 35 per cent. Mainly, he said, the company had has developed two focused verticals — EMI (engineering, manufacturing and industrial products) and UTG (utilities, transport and government).

Mr Reddy said the company has development centres in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Noida, and two abroad. The Hyderabad centre was being expanded, as another facility was being set up on 10 acres of land at Manikonda in addition to the existing two towers. Currently, there were 3,200 employees in Hyderabad and a thousand more may be added.
