Awards & Honours Logistics - Airlines States - Andhra Pradesh Indian bracing up for competition Our Bureau
Hyderabad March 25 The aviation sector is becoming competitive and Indian is getting well-equipped to meet challenges. "We have ordered 43 new aircraft and they are getting into our fleet," said the newly appointed Executive Director (South) of The Indian, Mr E.A. Varghese. The proposed merger of the Indian Airlines and Air India would also result in a formidable entity, he said while presenting the annual agent awards for the year 2005-06 in the Hyderabad sector of the airlines here. The Area Marketing Manager, Mr K.S. Reddy, in his welcome address explained the growth of Indian's operations, its market expansion, the rise in airline operators and the increasing traffic to Hyderabad.
Awards presented
Balmer Lawrie emerged as the top runner in Passenger Sales segment, while Unique Travels won the award in the International category. In cargo sales, Patel Airfreight emerged first in the Domestic segment while Hermes Travel and Cargo was the winner in the International segment. Other winners in Passenger Sales (Domestic) included Carlson Wagonlit Travels, MaxDelta, Travel Club Forex and Omega Travels. In the International segment, Tirumala, Akbar, Balaji and Bunny Aakaash travels won awards. In the Cargo Sales category, Continental Cargo Forwarders was second in the domestic segment while Far N Par was second in the International category.
