Supply Chain Management Concor coming out with terminal user charges soon Our Bureau
New Delhi March 26 Container Corporation of India (Concor) today stated that it will come out with the container terminal user charges within two days. The specification of charges is important for all companies that have entered the rail container operations sector since it was opened up in 2006 since the new operators would need to use Concor (the incumbent's) facilities on several routes initially till the time they build facilities. Building container terminal facilities would take long for these entrants. All entrants in the container operations segment have been waiting for Concor to specify usage charges for its facilities so that they can use the terminals for their operations. "Concor would come out with the facility user charges either tonight or latest by Wednesday," the Concor Managing Director, Mr Rakesh Mehrotra, said in a press conference here today. However, he declined to share the specific user charges.
No Parking facilities
In fact, many new container operators are unable to receive delivery of their wagons as they do not have "parking facilities" and they cannot use Concor's facilities till Concor specifies the charges. Moreover, since the charges specified by Concor would be a cost for the new container operators, it would have an important bearing on the tariffs at which the entrants would offer container services.
