The annual Plan of Manipur for the next fiscal has been pegged at Rs 1,374.31 crore at a meeting between the Planning Commission Deputy Chairman, Mr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, and the Chief Minister, Mr Okram Ibobi Singh, here.
In his preliminary remarks, Mr Ahluwalia said that utilisation of outlay by the State has improved and efforts should be made to keep up this trend. He said the Plan panel would consider further stepping up the Plan if utilisation on major projects was found satisfactory during the course of the next fiscal. He suggested close monitoring and efficient utilisation of funds being funnel under Manipur Reconstruction Plan unveiled by the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, during his visit to the State in November2004.
The Plan panel also drew the attention of the State Government to higher gender gap in literacy and the need to lay the accent on minor irrigation and rain water-harvesting programmes.
The Chief Minister said that health, education and irrigation would get priority in the Eleventh Plan. The State Development Report would be finalised by middle of next month.
