Outlook Juniper Networks office in Chennai by year-end R. Savitha
Jaipur March 26 Doubling of revenues, growth rate of more than 100 per cent, expansion of its engineering centre, and opening up of a new office, seem to be the roadmap chalked out by Juniper Networks for the current year to tap into the high potential area of networking. Mr Nagendra Venkaswamy, Managing Director, Juniper Networks, India and SAARC, told Business Line that the company would open sales, marketing and customer support office in Chennai, by the second half of the year. It would also house a design network and would have about five personnel on its rolls in the initial stages. The company also plans to set up a spare warehousing facility in Chennai, again by the second half. The Chennai centre would cater to the IT/ITeS segment and service the demand from South India and Sri Lanka.
Bangalore centre
Juniper Networks is also expanding its engineering development centre in Bangalore. The facility, which is currently spread over 1,20,000 sq ft, would now be spread over 2.5-lakh sq ft area. He noted that so far an investment of $100 million has been utilised by this centre and added "a similar investment might be utilised for the expansion''. Currently, the headcount at the development centre is about 650 and the company intends ramping it up to 1,050 by the year-end.
New products
The Managing Director said the Bangalore centre is now currently working on three new products which are is expected to hit the market within 18 months. He did not divulge the segment, which the company would target or the investment that would be utilised for the products.
