Datamatics in pact with Chinese co

Software centre in Suzhou park

Bangalore March 28 Datamatics Ltd, IT consulting and services company, on Wednesday announced the setting up of a software development centre in the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) with Darwinsoft, an IT and BPO company in China providing software design, engineering and quality assurance services.

The centre with a 20,000-sq. m. space would focus on developing software and enterprise wide technology solutions.

The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding here on Wednesday for the collaborative effort following a seminar organised by the SIP , a joint initiative of the Chinese and Singapore Governments.

SIP estimates a $12-billion investment opportunities currently and the Park's operating plan and policies are designed to provide R&D centres, high technology companies and proximity to Shanghai's academic and cultural institutions.

The China-Singapore Industrial Park, a joint development launched in 1994, already had 2,700 companies, including over 50 Fortune 500 companies. A diverse group of industrial and technical segments, with electronics, precision engineering, bio-medical, fine chemical and advanced material forming the core of SIP's enterprises.

Leveraging the infrastructure in SIP, the centre will connect directly with Datamatics' US and Mumbai facilities to provide complete solutions, including BPO data capture and entry works. The centre, currently 50 software engineers in strength, will ramp up its strength to 1,500 in 18 months, Mr Rahul Kanodia, Managing Director, Datamatics said.
