Lladro to expand in India

Targeting corporate as well as individual customers, the high-end porcelain brand, Lladro opened its concept boutique in the country here on Thursday.The corporate boom, growing interest in interior decoration and a strong luxury market were behind the launch of the stores in Hyderabad, Ms Angelique O Brien, Chief Executive Officer, Lladro India Private Ltd, told newspersons here. The sales target of Rs 20 lakh set for the city market during the first month of operations had already been met before the formal launch, she said.

"Although we came to India in 2001, there has been growing demand for our products in the last couple of years and we plan to expand in India in a steady manner," she said. Lladro currently operates five stores in India. Over the next two months, it would open stores in New Delhi and Kolkata. With the launch of the stores here, the firm has also unveiled

Re-Cyclos magical collection, an artistic concept based on using elements from existing Lladro pieces featuring organic, vegetable shapes in a black and white palette. The price range of Lladro's products is between Rs 10,000 and Rs 70 lakh. Lladro operates in India through the joint venture it formed with SPA Agencies India Pvt Ltd last year.
