Nepal roadshows to woo tourists
Our Bureau
Ahmedabad, March 30
Assuring that the Maoist violence is a thing of the past, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) on Friday launched its roadshows in Ahmedabad to be followed by another in Vadodara, to woo the globetrotter and high-spending Gujarati tourists to the Himalayan country. In a major campaign, NTB had organised a roadshow in Mumbai on Thursday and is set to go to Pune and Nagpur next week, Mr Janma Jaya Regmi, Under Secretary, Nepalese Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Aviation, and Ms Ujjwala Dali, Manager, NTB, said here on Friday. Indians comprised about 50 per cent of half-a-million foreign tourists that visited Nepal last year, they informed, adding a significant number of Indian tourists were from western Indian states such as Maharashtra and Gujarat. Meanwhile, Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd and NTB are exploring possibilities of providing facilities to Gujarati tourists visiting Nepal, said Ms Dali in an interaction with presspersons here. A number of attractive packages have also been offered by NTB to the different groups of tourists.
