HM invites unions for talks

With a view to breaking the impasse arising out of continuing agitation by a section of the workers at the Hindustan Motors (HM) Uttarpara plant, the company management has invited all five registered trade unions for talks on April 8, 2007. This was stated here by Ms Soni Shrivastav, General Manager, Corporate Communications, C.K. Birla Group of Companies.

The five registered trade unions invited for talks are Hindustan Motors and Hyderabad Industries Workers' Union, Hindustan Motors and Hyderabad Industries Sangrami Srameek Karmachari Union, Hindustan Motors & Hyderabad Industries Ltd Employees Union, Hindustan Motors & Hyderabad Industries Ltd Sangrami Srameek Union and Hindustan Motors IFT Union. Meanwhile, 2,000 workers attended work at the factory on Friday against 1,500 on Thursday.There were no major disruptions, Ms Srivastav said.
