Gujarat annual Plan pegged at Rs 16,000 cr

`Panel to hold consultation on 11th Plan shortly'

The annual Plan of Gujarat for 2007-08 has been pegged at Rs 16,000 crore, inclusive of additional Central assistance of Rs 90 crore for projects of special importance to the State.
At a meeting to fix the Plan size of the State here between the Planning Commission Deputy Chairman, Mr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, and the Gujarat Chief Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, here, the former complimented the State for economic reforms and working towards fostering investor-friendly milieu.
He said the State Government has successfully put in place public-private partnerships in social sectors.
Mr Ahluwalia said the Commission intends to hold regional consultation on 11th Plan shortly so as to discuss in detail priorities for the Plan with the State Government and he sought suggestions in this regard.
Briefing the Commission on Plan performance, Mr Modi said the State logged a rate of 10.6 per cent for the last four years.
He said the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management target of eliminating revenue deficit by 2007-08 has been met two years ahead of schedule.
