The Coir Development Department has utilised 92.68 per cent of the Budgetary allocation for 2006-07, according to the Minister for Co-operation and Coir, Mr G. Sudhakaran. The Department was able to spend Rs 46.12 crore of the State Plan allocation of Rs 46.82 crore. Besides, it utilised Rs 1.85 crore of the Rs 4.94 crore allocated in the Budget for Centrally sponsored schemes. The remaining amount under the Centrally sponsored schemes could not be utilised as the Centre did not make available the amount to the State Government through the Coir Board, the Minister said.
