Over 2,000 delegates expected on April 20-21

Bangalore April 2 Goafest 2007, the advertising awards festival organised by the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI), has received over 3,200 entries from 100 agencies. The fest, to be held in Goa on April 20 and 21, also expects the participation of over 2,000 delegates from India and abroad.

Mr Srinivasan K. Swamy, President of AAAI, said: "We already have over 1,200 delegates about three weeks prior to our festival. Going by the response, well over 2,000 people will be coming to Goa to celebrate excellence in advertising. The numbers are likely to surpass the level of participation at Adfest, Pattaya, the Asia Pacific Awards festival which has now been running for about 10 years."

Goafest has received 3,212 entries from over a hundred advertising agencies across the country for creative and media awards. Creative awards (Gold, Silver, Bronze and Grand Prix) will be given across 17 categories for press, outdoor, TV and radio, with six categories dedicated to direct marketing and interactive marketing.

The jury chairmen are Mr Prasoon Joshi for the press, Mr Ravi Deshpande for television, Mr K.V. Sridhar for outdoor media and Mr Josy Paul for radio awards. This year, Goafest has launched media awards for "encouraging advertising professionals to look at advertising holistically and understand how each component is important for the other".

The media awards are for 19 categories. Out of the 3,212 entries, 192 entries from 23 agencies are for the media awards. Mr Sam Balsara of the Madison group will head the media jury.

The second edition of Goafest will also see interactive creative workshops, panel discussions, seminars and a media conclave. Speakers include Mr Donald Gunn (of the Gunn Report); Mr Trevor Beattie of BMB, London; Mr Hermann Vaske, ad director, producer and writer; Mr Thirasak Tanapatanakul, of Creative Juice, Thailand; Mr Fredric Joseph, CEO, Zed Digital; and Mr Jamie Lord, Marketing and Business Development Director for Mindshare Asia Pacific.
