New Delhi April 2 The Union Minister for Small Scale Industries and Agro and Rural Industries, Mr Mahabir Prasad, urged the States to take the benefit of the package for the SSI sector announced by the Centre recently.

Inaugurating a conference jointly organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Konrad-Adenauer Foundation of Germany, the Minister said that in the first four years of the Tenth Plan, the annual growth rate of this sector had been 8.87 per cent.

He expressed hope that the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 would go a long way in developing this sector.
