Golden Rock despatches rake for Concor

Our Bureau

Tiruchi April 3 The 34th rake containing 45 low container flat wagons meant for the Container Corporation of India was dispatched from the Golden Rock railway workshop here on Monday.

The Chief Mechanical Engineer of Southern Railway, Mr Sanjiv Handa, flagged off the wagons at a function held at the workshop premises in which the Chief Workshop Manager, Mr S. Rangarajan, and the workshop staff took part.

Congratulating the workshop for its performance over the years, Mr Handa asked the workshop authorities to become the first manufacturer to roll out the newly designed `BOXNHL' wagons, which will have additional load carrying capacity of 2.92 tonnes per wagon and 169 tonnes per rake (58 wagons).

This would fetch additional revenues to the Railways. The wagon has been designed to overcome the problems of corrosion, body bulging and weak stanchions in the existing wagons.
