IBM flags off autonomic computing unit

Our Bureau

Bangalore April 4 IBM has announced the opening of its Autonomic Computing Technology Centre here.

An extension of IBM's India Software Laboratory, the centre was set up to address the demand from Indian partners and customers for technology and systems that are self-managing, said a company release.

The centre is dedicated to advancing IBM's global Autonomic Computing initiative, which has worked for the past five years to reduce complexity by automating processes and building intelligence into IT systems.

Much the same way the autonomic nervous system regulates and protects the body, autonomic technologies are designed to manage and heal themselves, the release said.

It works closely with IBM's worldwide Software Development Laboratories and with the IBM India Research Laboratory.
