Bangalore April 4 HP today announced the launch of its Proliant ML115 server, an entry-level computing solution for SMBs.

Powered by the second generation AMD Opteron 1000 series processors, the server is priced at Rs 35,000, said Mr Rajesh Dhar, Country Manager, Industry Standards Servers (ISS), HP India Sales.

The server is ideal for networking, file and print, shared Internet access, small team e-mail and LAN infrastructure, he added.

"The server is available at a desktop price to improve networking and business efficiency and protect company e-mail and files," said Mr Tony Parkinson, Vice-President and General Manager for ISS, HP Asia-Pacific.

Designed in Taiwan over the past 18 months, the server is manufactured at HP's Bangalore plant.

"We expect to increase our market share further through Proliant ML 115," said Mr Dhar.

HP currently claims leadership in the x86 server market in India, which is expected to touch $500 million, with a projected growth of 25-30 per cent.

The company aims to target first-time users of servers in SMBs through the new offering, Mr Dhar said.

Mr Alok Ohrie, Managing Director of AMD India, said: "AMD and HP have once again collaborated to deliver technology that will help growing businesses maximise their IT budgets with cost-effective solutions."
