Rubber prices steady ahead of holiday

Kottayam April 4 An almost steady trend prevailed in the domestic rubber market on Wednesday. In the physical front, prices remained unchanged as market lacked proper direction in the absence of active buyers and sellers.

Weak global indices could not induce any visible impact, sources said. Sheet rubber closed at Rs 94.50 a kg both at Kottayam and Kochi. The volumes were dull as traders appeared to be in a holiday mood owing to Good Friday and Easter.

Futures firm

The rubber futures were quoted slightly firm on NMCE. The April contract concluded at Rs 94 (Rs 93.41); May at Rs 96.99 (Rs 96.59); June at Rs 100.10 (Rs 100.02); and July contract at Rs 101.65 (Rs 100.94) a kg for RSS 4.

The April delivery contract for RSS 4 was quoted at Rs 93.40 against Rs 93.02 a kg at MCX.

The spot rubber prices per kg were: RSS-4 Rs 94.50 (Rs 94.50); RSS-5 Rs 93.50 (Rs 93.50); ungraded Rs 92.50 (Rs 92.50); ISNR 20 Rs 93.25 (Rs 93.25); and Latex 60% Rs 64.70 (Rs 64.70).
