Kolkata, April 5

Bengal Initiative, which was first formed in 1905 during the Swadeshi Movement, is sending a goodwill mission to Vietnam. The team will be led by Mr Bikas Ranjan Bhattacharya, Mayor of Kolkata, and will include 26 members. The purpose of the mission is to strengthen bilateral ties between Vietnam and India through better economic ties and also to establish deeper cultural links. The mission will also explore business opportunities between the two countries. Mr S.B. Ganguly, Chairman, Bengal Initiative, said: "Vietnam is one of the developing economies in South East Asia and has huge potential. Ho Chi Minh City has emerged as the latest investment destination. The aim of our goodwill mission to Vietnam is to establish a people to people link between the two countries which have a lot of things in common."
