Ashok Leyland March sales up 35%

Chennai, April 5

Ashok Leyland's vehicle sales for the year ending March 31, 2007, were 35 per cent higher than its sales in the previous year, according to a press release from the company. During the year the company sold 83,101 vehicles against 61,655 previously. Sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles was 76,741 representing a 37 per cent growth.

Exports were 23 per cent higher at 6,025 vehicles. Figures for monthly sales in March showed a drop with total sales of 8,444 vehicles against 8,577 during the same month of the previous year. Domestic sales was 7,936 (8,087) and exports 508 (490). Total sales of MDV (medium duty vehicles) in March was 7,936 (8,009) and LCVs (light commercial vehicles) nil (78).
