Hyderabad, April 6

A social entrepreneurial concept presented by the students of Icfai Business School here won the Global Entrepreneurship Competition (GSEC) 2007 organised by University of Washington. The Icfai Hyderabad team, which had Manas Kumar Mandal and Pavan Kumar Venkat Rao, presented a social venture aimed at helping the farming community, through a farmer's cooperative, to extract biodiesel from jatropha seeds. It was declared the winner out of 200 entries in the competition, according to a release issue here on Thursday. GSEC is a business plan competition that invites students from across the world to find creative and commercially sustainable ways to reduce poverty through new business development.
