Fresh project loans on hold

Coimbatore April 6 The Central Government has decided to keep in abeyance sanctioning of fresh project loans under the technology upgradation fund scheme (TUFS) for the textile industry effective from April 1, 2007.

The suspension of the TUFS operation will be in force till a modified TUFS is put in place, according to a communication from the office of the Textile Commissioner — the TUFS operating agency.

In the communication issued by the Joint Textile Commissioner, Mrs Sashi Singh, has said that the Government, which has decided to extend the TUFS beyond end-March 2007, is in the process of bringing out modification in the scheme operation and as part of this exercise, it has undertaken consultations with all the stakeholders.
