Performance Daimler sells 690 units in Jan-March Our Bureau

New Delhi April 6 DaimlerChrysler India Private Ltd has recorded sales of 690 units for the quarter ended March 31, 2007. DaimlerChrysler said that this included sales of 95 units its of S-Class, 352 units of E-Class and 226 units of C-Class. Declining to reveal the sales of the corresponding quarter last year, the company said that it had sold 2,121 units, for the entire year reporting a growth of 11 per cent over the previous year. On the launch of its S-class diesel model, Mr Wilfried Aulbur, Managing Director and CEO, DaimlerChrysler India Pvt Ltd said: "The luxury market in India stood at 2.1 per cent; in Russia at 2.5 per cent; and in China, 70 per cent of overall market was for luxury cars. However, the Indian market was big enough to accommodate more players." The company has introduced S-Class model priced at Rs 72.73 lakh and a new luxury coupe CL Class tagged at Rs 1.2-1.7 crore.
