NMCE gold futures settlement

Kilo-gold futures contract for April 2007 as traded at National Multi-Commodity Exchange (NMCE) settled at Rs 9,339 on the expiry of series on Thursday.It was Rs 61 lower than the day's spot price of Rs 9,400, the Exchange said.

Kilo-gold is traded in lots (units) of one kg, but the prices are quoted in Rs per 10-gram. The price is settled at the average of the last five trading days of the series.

As per the Forward Markets Commission (FMC) guidelines, NMCE runs bimonthly contracts of Kilo-Gold, each series expiring on the fifth day of alternate month. During intra-day trading, the April-2007 series had closed at a high of Rs 9,810 on February 26, 2007 and low of Rs 8,973 on October 26, 2006. The April-2007 series registered a total volume of 5,134 lots (kg) and turnover of Rs 488.02 crore since it was introduced.
